Description

Mackinnon and Dellon modified the Medical Research Council (MRC) scale for sensory recovery by including measures of two-point discrimination. This can be used to monitor a patient after surgery or other injury to a peripheral nerve.

Testing of 2 point discrimination is done use the Disk-Criminator testing device.

Parameters:

(1) sensitivity to deep cutaneous

(2) sensitivity to superficial pain

(3) sensitivity to touch

(4) presence of overresponse

(5) 2 point discrimination, static
