Description

Zhang et al reported models for predicting survival for an older adult undergoing surgical resection of a gastric cancer. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from a more aggressive management. The authors are from Nantong University and affiliated hospitals in China.

Patient selection: gastric cancer undergoing gastrectomy, age >= 60 years

Parameters:

(1) TNM stage

(2) T status

(3) operation

(4) FPR-PNI (Fibrinogen to Prealbumin Ratio and Prognostic Nutritional Index) score

Interpretation:

minimum score: 0

maximum score: 309.2

The higher the score the worse the overall survival.

value of X =

= (-0.00006118 * ((score)^2)) - (0.01162 * (score)) + 2.435

probability of 5-year overall survival =

= 1 / (1 + EXP((-1) * X))

Performance:

The area under the ROC curve is 0.74.
