Description

Xu et al reported models for predicting survival in a patient with an R0 head and neck soft tissue sarcoma. One model is the Inflammatory-Nutrition Score (INS) which is based on several nutritional and inflammatory markers. The authors are from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center in Guangzhou, China.

Patient selection: R0 head and neck soft tissue sarcoma

Parameters:

(1) absolute monocyte count in 10^9/L

(2) neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR)

(3) platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR)

(4) prognostic nutritional index (PNI) of Onodera et al

(5) lymphocyte to monocyte ratio (LMR)

(6) albumin to globulin ratio (AGR)

(7) systemic inflammation score (SIS) based on serum albumin and LMR, ranging from 0 to 2

where:

• The AGR is described as albumin to total protein ratio; however, the ratio cutoff is 1.2 which would be impossible with total protein as denominator. So ratio is albumin to globulin, where globulin = (total protein) - (albumin).

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 7
