Description

O'Mahony et al reported a model for predicting the risk of sudden cardiac death in a patient with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from multiple institutions in Europe.

Parameters:

(1) maximal wall thickness in mm

(2) left atrial diameter in mm

(3) maximal left ventricular outflow tract gradient in mm Hg

(4) family history of sudden cardiac death

(5) non-sustained ventricular tachycardia (NSVT; >= 3 consecutive ventricular beats at a rate >= 120 beats per minute and < 30 second duration by Holter monitoring for >= 24 hours)

(6) unexplained syncope

(7) age at clinical evaluation in years
