Description

Herder et al developed a model for predicting whether a solitary lung nodule is malignant or not. This is based on both the probability from the Swensen equation and findings on 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography. The authors are from VU University Medical Centre and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre in Amsterdam.

Patient selection: solitary lung nodule

(1) probability of lung cancer from equation of Swensen et al

(2) findings on 18F-FDG-PET
