Description

Hagstrom et al reported predictive markers for severe liver disease in the general population. This can help to identify a subset of patients who should be managed more aggressively. The authors are from Karolinska Institute and Stockholm University in Sweden.

 


Patient selection: adult >= 35 years

 

Outcome: severe liver disease (cirrhosis and its complications

 

Parameters:

(1) serum GGT

(2) impaired glucose tolerance (fasting glucose over 6 mmol/L OR non-fasting glucose over 7.8 mmol/L OR known diabetes)

(3) age in years

(4) FIB-4 as high, intermediate or low
