Description

The risk of deep vein thrombosis is increased in patients with carbon monoxide poisoning. Feng and Li developed a model for predicting the risk. The authors are from Cangzhou Central Hospital in China.

Patient selection: carbon monoxide poisoning

Outcome: deep vein thrombosis in lower extremity

Parameters:

(1) plasma D-dimer level, from 0 to 10

(2) duration of coma, from 0 to 24 days

points for D-dimer =

= (plasma D-dimer) * 10

points for coma duration =

= (coma duration) * 2.0583

total score =

= SUM(points for both parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 149.4

value of X =

= (0.1754 * (total score)) - 5.168

probability of deep vein thrombosis =

= 1 / (1 + EXP((-1) * X))

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve is 0.93.
