Description

Dubsky et al developed a logistic regression model for recurrence of a diabetic foot ulcer. This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Institute for Clinical and Experimental Medicine in Prague, University Hospital Maastricht and University of Washington Seattle.

Patient selection: diabetic foot ulcer at initial presentation

Outcome: recurrence within 3 years

Parameters:

(1) location of ulcer

(2) osteomyelitis

(3) hemoglobin A1c in percent

(4) C-reactive protein (CRP) in mg/L
