Leptospirosis and hantavirus infection can be difficult to tell apart. Kaya et al reported the MICE score to help to identify a patient with leptospirosis. The authors are from Karadeniz Technical University in Turkey.
Parameters:
(1) WBC count per microliter
(2) serum total bilirubin in mg/dL
(3) serum CRP in mg/dL
(4) serum creatinine in mg/dL
(5) serum CK in U/L

= SUM(points for all of the parameter)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 10
• The higher the score the more likely that the patient has leptospirosis.
• A MICE score >= 3 has a sensitivity of 0.935 and specificity of 0.929.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve is 0.96.
