Metastatic carcinoma may involve the tip of the nose.
Malignancies that may metastasize to the tip of the nose:
(1) lung carcinoma
(2) esophageal squamous cell carcinoma
(3) renal cell carcinoma
(4) malignant lymphoma
Clinical features:
(1) The patient develops a mass at the tip of the nose.
(2) The mass may be rapidly enlarging, discolored and/or ulcerated.
(3) A biopsy of the mass shows malignant cells.
The patient may have a history of the malignancy or it may be the first sign of an occult malignancy.
Differential diagnosis:
(1) infection
(2) benign tumor
(3) primary skin carcinoma
