A person on a roller coaster may be subjected to a variety of extreme forces during the ride. These forces can cause a medical device to be become displaced or to malfunction.

A person with a medical device should have a medical assessment prior to riding a roller coaster.
The risk to the device depends on:
(1) the forces experienced during the ride
(2) the frequency of exposure
(3) how secure the device is fastened
