Description

The mean residence time is the average time that molecules of a drug reside in the body after a dose.

mean residence time in hours =

= 1.44 * (half-life in hour) =

= (volume of distribution in L) / (clearance in L per hr)

half-life for the drug in hours =

= (mean residence time) / 1.44 = 0.693 * (mean residence time)
