Description

For bolus intravenous drug administrations, the maximum steady state concentration can be calculated if the kinetic parameters are known. This differs from an oral regimen in that all of the drug is absorbed (F = 1).


 

Method 1

= (dose) / ((volume of distribution) * (fraction of dose lost from body))

= (1 - (EXP((-1) * (elimination rate constant) * (dosing interval))))

 

Method 2

 

C(max-ss) =

= C(min-ss) + ((maintenance dose) / (volume of distribution))
