Description

Fuel contamination can present in a number of ways.


Manifestations of contaminated fuel:

(1) clogged filters, with more frequent need to replace

(2) frequent cleaning or replacement of fuel injectors

(3) premature wearing of rings and cylinder liners

(4) excessive blow-by (when the explosion in the combustion chamber is forced past the rings into the crankcase)

(5) increase in oil consumption

(6) fuel discoloration

(7) change in smell to fuel or exhaust (rotten eggs, other)

(8) black exhaust smoke

(9) sludge or debris in fuel tank

(10) engine malfunction
