Description

The Manchester Clinical Severity Score can be used to evaluate a patient with keratitis secondary to wearing contact lenses. The score was developed at the University of Manchester in England for use in the Manchester Keratitis Study.

Parameters:

(1) ocular symptoms

(2) swelling of the eyelid

(3) redness of the conjunctiva

(4) shape of the corneal infiltrate

(5) size of the corneal infiltrate

(6) fluorescein staining

(7) surrounding cornea

(8) endothelial debris

(9) hypopyon

(10) outcome to lens discontinuation
