A man who suffers burn injury may subsequently develop sexual dysfunction.
Manifestations:
(1) erectile dysfunction
(2) infertility associated with oligospermia
Risk factors may include:
(1) total burn surface area (for erectile dysfunction)
(2) burn involving the genitals or perineum
(3) reduced testosterone
Additional factors to consider:
(1) erectile dysfunction prior to burn
(2) post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
Following a major burn a male should be monitored for sexual dysfunction.
