A woman with a luteinized thecomatosis may develop sclerosing peritonitis.
Features of the syndrome:
(1) presence of luteinized thecomatosis, usually bilateral
(2) presence of sclerosing peritonitis
Cliinical features of the sclerosing peritonitis:
(1) abdominal distension
(2) abdominal pain
(3) ascites
(4) variable bowel obstruction
Mellembakken et al were able to induce regression of the ovarian and peritoneal changes by treating a patient with gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist and high doses of corticosteroids.
