Steward et al reported a number of indices related to Crohn's disease and its appearance on magnetic resonance enterography. One index involves an acute inflammation score. The authors are from University College London.
Patient selection: Crohn's disease
Exam: magnetic resonance enterography
Parameters:
(1) mural thickness in mm
(2) mural T2 score
AIS =
= (1.34 * (mural thickness)) + (0.94 * (mural T2)) + 1.79
Interpretation:
• A score of 3 had a sensitivity of 0.87 and specificity of 0.70 for acute inflammation.
Performance:
• A cut-off of 4.1 had an area under the ROC curve of 0.76.
• A cut-off of 3 had an area under the ROC curve of 0.83.
