Description

Krakauer and Krakauer reported a body shape index (ABSI). Chung subsequently used a log-transformation of the ABSI. This index and its Z-score overcome some of the limitations shown by the BMI and ABSI in predicting risk of cardiovascular disease.

Parameters for ABSI:

(1) waist circumference in meters (although measured clinically in cm)

(2) body mass index (BMI) in kilograms per square meter

(3) height in meters

ABSI =

= (waist circumference) / ((BMI ^(2/3)) * ((height)^ 0.5))

ABSI =

= (WC) * ((height)^(5/6)) / ((weight)^(2/3))

LGSI =

= LN(ABSI)

LGSIZ = Z-score for the LGSI +

= ((LGSI) - (mean LGSI)) / (standard deviation of the LGSI)
