(4) floors and/or carpets

(9) bathroom and toilet
(10) disposal of excreta
(11) hoarding
(12) clutter
(13) vermin
Personal hygiene and self-neglect (personal scale):
(1) skin
(2) hair
(3) fingernails and toenails
(4) clothing
Exterior of the household:
(1) exterior of house or dwelling
(2) garden and/or yard
Utilities (water, electricity, heating, phone service, etc.)

• Severely abnormal indicates generalized decay of the environment including garbage, food debris, excreta, insect infestation and/or rodent habitation.

Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 60 points
• If a person is not responsible for the exterior of the dwelling, then the maximum score is 54.
• The higher the score, the greater the squalor.
