Description

Stepien et al reported the Lichen Planus Activity and Damage Index (LiPADI). This measures disease activity and damage in various body sites. The authors are from Rzeszow University and Medical University of Lublin in Poland.

LiPADI is modeled after the Cutanous Lupus Erythematosus Disease Area and Severity Index (CLASI).

LiPADI has separate activity and damage scores, with subscores for skin, musocus membranes, nails and hair.

total activity score =

= (subscore for skin) + (subscore for mucous membranes) + (subscore for hair)

total damage score =

= (subscore for skin) + (subscore for nails) + (subscore for hair)

Interpretation:

• minimum activity and damage scores: 0

• maximum total activity score: 74

• maximum damage score: 39

• The activity score tends to reflect disease activity.

• The damage score tends to be higher in more severe and longstanding disease.

• The activity score can be managed over time to evaluate response to therapy.
