Description

Leonine facies refers to a facial resemblance to that of a lion.


 

Contributing lesions:

(1) skin lesions, primarily large and numerous plaques

(2) periosteal proliferation or other bony changes

(3) both

 

Conditions associated with facial skin lesions:

(1) leukemia cutis

(2) mastocytoma

(3) reticulohistiocytosis

(4) cutaneous lymphoma

(5) Melkersson-Rosenthal syndrome

(6) sarcoidosis

(7) pseudolymphoma

 

Bone disorders causing deformity (leontiasis ossea):

(1) Paget's disease of bone (osteitis deformans)

(2) fibrous dysplasia

(3) renal osteodystrophy

 

Both skin and bone disorders:

(1) lepromatous leprosy
