Description

The learning curve reflects how much needs to be learned versus time to do so.

Parameters:

(1) rough quantification of amount of knowledge needed for a task

(2) time to learn the material

If this is plotted in two dimensions then a "curve" is generated.

A steep learning curve indicates that a large amount of material needs to be learned over a short period of time.

A shallow learning curve indicates a small amount of material that can be learned over a long period of time.

Factors affecting the learning curve:

(1) the starting point of the student determines the baseline

(2) the ability of the student to learn

(3) how well the learned material is used

(4) how long the knowledge is retained
