A patient with fruit or pollen allergies is at greater risk for developing a latex allergy. The plant allergens often cross-react with the latex allergen hevein.
Food allergies that may be associated with latex allergy:
(1) avacado
(2) banana
(3) celery
(4) cherry
(5) chestnut
(6) fig
(7) kiwi
(8) melon
(9) nectarine
(10) papaya
(11) peach
(12) pineapple
(13) plum
(14) potato
(15) tomato
Many of these foods are associated with allergy to the following pollens:
(1) grass
(2) ragweed
(3) birch
(4) mugwort
