Uldall et al reported an equation for calculating the kinetic energy of a laboratory centrifuge.
Parameters:
(1) mass in kilograms
(2) rotational frequency in rotations per minute (rpm)
(3) outer radius of the rotor in meters = (outer diameter in cm) / 2
(4) inner radius of the rotor in meters = (inner diameter in cm) / 2
rotational frequency per second (in Hz) =
= (rotational speed per minute) / 60
kinetic energy in Joules =
= ((PI())^2) * (mass in kg) * ((rotation per second)^2) * (((outer radius)^2) - ((inner radius)^2))
