Strand et al evaluated woman with N0 or N1 breast cancer using the KiGE index. This can help to identify a woman who may or may not benefit from adjuvant chemotherapy. The authors are from multiple institutions in Sweden.
Patient selection: female with N0 or N1 breast cancer
Parameters:
(1) Ki67 expression
(2) histologic grade
(3) ER expression
Ki67 expression is high if > 20% positive.
Criteria for a low KiGE tumor:
(1) grade 1
(2) grade 2 AND low Ki67 AND ER-positive:
A tumor that is not low KiGE is designated high KiGE.
