Description

Niyongombwa et al reported the Kigali Surgical Sepsis (KiSS) score for evaluating a surgical patient with sepsis. This may be of use in low- or middle-income settings where resources may be limited. The authors are from the University of Rwands in Kigali, Bushenge Provincial Hospital and Kibuye Referral Hospital.

Performance:

• The area under the ROC curve for ICU admission was 0.66 which is comparable to the qSOFA score.

• The area under the ROC curve for in-hospital mortality was 0.94versus 0.68 for theqSOFA score.
