Lennartz et al reported an equation for the Kidney Failure Risk Equation (KFRE) based on the KFRE of Tangri et al. The authors are from Germany, New Zealand, and Canada.
Patient selection: chronic kidney disease
Parameters:
(1) age in years
(2) gender
(3) eGFR in mL per min per 1.73 square meters
(4) urine albumin to creatinine ratio (ACR) in mg/g

Interpretation:
• Almost all results are negative.
• The lower the score the lower the risk of ESRD.
• It appears that many patients who progress to ESRD have a score > -2.
Performance:
• The area under the ROC curve was reported as 0.91.
