Description

Deutsch et al developed a score for differentiating Orthodromic Atrioventricular Reentry Tachycardia (OAVRT) from Atrioventricular Nodal Reentry Tachycardia (AVNRT) in pediatric patients with narrow QRS tachycardia. The authors are from multiple institutions in Poland.

Patient selection: pediatric patient with narrow QRS complex supraventricular tachycardia

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) heart rate in beats per minute

(3) retrograde P waves

(4) ST-segment depression

(5) pseudo r' wave in V1

where:

• The original table says "r' wave in V1". The additon of pseudo r' is based on discussion at the top of the second column on page 3.

total score =

= SUM(points for all 5 parameters)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: -2

• maximum score: 7

• A score <= 1 is associated with AVNRT.

• A score >= 2 is associated with OAVRT
