Description

The leadership of an organization needs to be engaged with its occupational health and safety (OH&S) program. This can be demonstrated by managerial review of the program.


Reviews should be conducted at planned intervals (scheduled).

Documentation should be retained as evidence of the review.

 

Inputs:

(1) status of actions taken at previous reviews (old business)

(2) changes in external and internal issues that impact occupational health and safety

(3) review of objectives

(4) review of performance measures (see below)

(5) determining if resources are adequate

(6) reviewing communications with interested parties

(7) identifying opportunities for continual improvement

 

Performance measures may include:

(1) incidents, corrective actions and nonconformities

(2) results of monitoring and measurement

(3) evaluation of compliance with legal and regulatory requirements

(4) audit results

(5) inclusion of workers

(6) risks and opportunities

 

Outputs:

(1) review of the effectiveness of the OH&S program

(2) review of continual improvement opportunities

(3) any need to make adjustments to the OH&S program

(4) need for resources

(5) actions that need to be taken

(6) opportunities to better integrate OH&S with other business processes

(7) implications for the strategic direction of the organization

(8) communications about significant findings to workers and relevant parties
