Isadora Duncan was a famous dancer who was strangled when her scarf got round up in the axle of the car that she was in. Similar accidents occur today in rickshaws, bicycles and farm carts.
Requirements:
(1) scarf or wrapping around the neck with a long loose end
(2) an uncovered axle or open spoke wheel nearby
(3) the scarf or wrapping gets caught up in the axle or spokes
Consequences may include:
(1) strangulation
(2) damage to the larynx
(3) hyoid bone fracture
(4) damage to the carotid artery
(5) stroke
