Description

In the Irish Children's Triage System certain comorbid conditions set the floor for possible triage levels.


Triage has 5 levels from 1 (red) to 5 (blue)

 

Conditions which cannot be triaged as 3, 4 or 5:

(1) history of metabolic disorder

(2) sickle cell disease

(3) tracheostomy and breathing difficulties

(4) ventriculo-peritoneal shunt problems

(5) history of Kasai procedure (for biliary atresia)

 

Conditions which cannot be triaged as 4 or 5:

(1) airway problem or significant respiratory history

(2) history of cardiac disease

(3) history of renal disease

(4) bleeding disorder

(5) oncology patient receiving chemoradiation

(6) infant less than 3 months old

(7) immunocompromised status
