Description

The Iowa Satisfaction with Anesthesia Scale (ISAS) is a self-administered questionnaire for evaluating a patient's satisfaction with monitored anesthesia care received.


 

NOTE: Copies of the instrument may be obtained from Dr Dexter. It is copyrighted by the University of Iowa Research Foundation.

 

The questionnaire consists of 11 items dealing with anesthesia episode, mixing positive and negative experiences.

 

Positive statements: 2, 4, 6, 8, 10

Negative statements: 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11

Interpretation:

• minimum score: -33

• maximum score: +33

• A person totally satisfied with the anesthetic care would give a total of +33.
