Description

The International Index of Erectile Function (IIEF) is a brief, self-administered instrument for measuring erectile dysfunction. It was designed to be reliable and valid across cultures, with versions in 10 languages. It can be used to monitor response to treatment.


 

The instrument consists of 15 questions related to erectile function over the preceding 4 weeks.

 

The responses range from 0 (poor) to 5 (excellent).

subscore for orgasmic function =

= SUM(points for questions 9 and 10)

 

subscore for sexual desire =

= SUM(points for questions 11 and 12)

 

subscore for intercourse satisfaction =

= SUM(points for questions 6, 7, 8)

 

subscore for overall satisfaction =

= SUM(points for questions 13 and 14)

 

overall score =

= SUM(points for all 15 questions)

 

Interpretation:

• minimum total score: 5

• maximum total score: 75

• An increase in the score over time indicates clinical improvement,
