If a patient develops a severe coagulopathy after a snakebite, then the patient is at risk for various types of internal hemorrhage.
Patient selection: snakebite with coagulopathy
Sites of hemorrhage may include:
(1) intracranial hemorrhage
(2) hemothorax
(3) intra-pulmonary hemorrhage
(4) spontaneous splenic hemorrhage
(5) hemorrhage into the adrenals
Others forms of internal hemorrhage can theoretically arise. It could explain hypopituitarism following snakebite.
