A significant amount of oxalate can be absorbed after drinking tea and coffee.
Complications of excessive oxalate intake:
(1) oxalate nephrolithiasis
(2) acute renal failure
Increased oxalate intake may be associated with:
(1) tea or coffee with high oxalate content
(2) chronic daily ingestion of a large volumes of coffee or tea
(3) prolonged brewing
(4) minimal milk intake (not adding milk to coffee or tea, etc)
