Quantitative Insulin Sensitivity Check Index (QUICKI) & Insulin Resistance Index

Purpose:

To evaluate a person's insulin sensitivity using the quantitative sensitivity index (QUICKI) and its inverse (the insulin resistance index).

Specialty:

Endocrinology, Nutrition & Dermatology
Clinical Laboratory

Objective:

laboratory tests

ICD-10:

R73.9, K76.0, K75.8, K74.0

Description:

Katz et al developed the quantitative insulin sensitivity check index (QUICKI) as a quick method for evaluating a person's insulin sensitivity. It correlates well with the hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamp technique. The inverse of QUICKI is the insulin resistance index, which is a good indirect measure of insulin resistance.
