Description

An industrial or agriculture explosion may be associated with a variety of injuries. The trauma may be blunt or penetrating.


 

Possible injuries in an explosion at a plant, factory or silo:

(1) thermal burn (may range from flash burn to third degree burn)

(2) smoke and carbon monoxide inhalation

(3) toxic gas inhalation

(4) chemical burn

(5) crush injury from falling masonry or beams

(6) blast injury

(7) missile injury (glass, metal, splinters, etc.), including intra-ocular foreign bodies

(8) trauma from physical ejection, with fall injury and/or impalement and/or blunt impact injury

(9) wounds contaminated with environmental organisms
