Description

Placing a stent in a ureter after removing a stone during uretoscopy may be indicated if one or more conditions are present.


 

Indications for placing a ureteral stent:

(1) presence of a large residual stone burden

(2) solitary kidney

(3) renal insufficiency

(4) ureteral injury

(5) presence or risk of a ureteral stricture

 

The presence of one or more of these findings would be an indication for placing a ureteral stent in a patient.
