Description

A stainless steel crown can be used to maintain form and function in a tooth that is weakened or subject to stress.


 

Indications for use of a stainless steel crown to restore a tooth - both of the following:

(1) one of the following is present:

(1a) there are extensive caries in the tooth

(1b) the tooth is hypoplastic or hypocalcified

(1c) the tooth has undergone a pulpotomy or pulpectomy

(1d) the tooth is to be used as an abutment for a space maintainer

(1e) the tooth is fractured

(2) other materials have or are expected to fail
