Moderate to severe forms of ptosis may require surgery to reduce impairments.


Indications for surgery:

(1) need for improved cosmesis

(2) visual field loss

(3) occlusion amblyopia

advance the aponeurosis for the levator muscle

3 to 9 mm


resect levator muscle

0 to 2.9 mm

poor or absent

sling material supported by frontalis muscle
