Description

A patient who does not meet all of the criteria for Kawasaki disease may be said to have incomplete (or atypical) Kawasaki disease.


 

Features of incomplete Kawasaki disease:

(1) fever >= 5 days

(2) less than 4 of the 5 classic clinical findings

(3) laboratory findings associated with Kawasaki syndrome

(4) no other reasonable explanation

 

Classic clinical findings:

(1) bilateral conjunctival injection

(2) cervical lymphadenopathy

(3) polymorphous skin rash

(4) changes affecting the lips and oral mucosa

(5) changes affecting the distal extremities

 

Laboratory findings may include:

(1) elevated ESR or CRP

(2) hypoalbuminemia

(3) elevated liver transaminases

(4) leukocytosis

(5) thrombocytosis
