Description

Injury to the fingers results in impairment of both the hand and upper extremity. Injury may be in the form of amputation, or in terms of percent function loss.


percent of total impairment to hand =

= (percent hand impairment due to thumb injury) + (percent hand impairment due to index finger injury) + (percent hand impairment due to middle finger injury) + (percent hand impairment due to ring finger injury) + (percent hand impairment due to little finger injury)

 

The percent of total impairment to upper extremity due to a hand injury is looked up in correlation table (below).
