Exposure to toluene or xylene can result in impaired semen quality and infertility in males.
People at risk:
(1) industrial production of solvents
(2) occupational (laboratory workers, shoemakers, etc)
(3) people engaged in volatile inhalant abuse
Exposure is usually related to inhalation but less often may involve ingestion.
Impact on semen:
(1) reduce sperm motility
(2) reduced sperm vitality
(3) increased liquefaction time
