Description

Some patients are at increased risk for mortality associated with COVID-19 infection. These patients benefit from greater precautions and more aggressive management.

Comorbid conditions include:

(1) smoking/COPD/chronic lung disease

(2) heart failure

(3) coronary artery disease

(4) hypertension

(5) diabetes

(6) immunodeficiency/immunosuppression, including transplant

(7) other (chronic kidney, cancer, other)

 

The risk of severe disease and mortality increases with age and severity of comorbid conditions.
