Description

Yu et al reported the iBD score for evaluating the prognosis for a patient with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue. The authors are from Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Stomatology, Sun Yat-Sen University, the Forsyth Institute (Cambridge) and Harvard University.

iBD is an acronym for inflammation, tumor budding and invasive depth.

Patient selection: squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue

Parameters:

(1) inflammatory infiltration at the invasive front

(2) tumor buds per microscopic field (at x200 magnification)

(3) invasive depth

The invasion depth and tumor budding is used to derive the BD Score of Almangush et al.
