Description

The IABP SHOCK II (Intraaortic Balloon Pump in Cardiogenic Shock) score can be used to evaluate a patient with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). This can help to identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from multiple institutions in Germany and Finland.

Patient selection: cardiogenic shock after acute myocardial infarction

Outcome: 30-day mortality

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) history of stroke

(3) glucose in mmol/L

(4) serum creatinine in µmol/L

(5) arterial blood lactate concentration in mmol.L

(6) TIMI flow grade after PCI (from 0 to 3)

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 9

• The higher the score the greater the mortality.
