Hong Kong Staging Classification for Liver Cancer (HKLC) of Yau et al

Description

Yau et al reported the Hong Kong Liver Cancer Staging System for patients with hepatocellular carcinoma. The stage can help guide patient management. The authors are from the Univeristy of Hong Kong.

Parameters:

(1) ECOG and Child stage

(2) extrahepatic vascular invasion and/or metastasis (EVM)

(3) tumor status

Early status - all of the following:

(1) diameter <= 5 cm, 1 to 3 tumor nodules and no intrahepatic venous invasion

Intermediate status:

(1) diameter <= 5 cm, >= 4 tumor nodules, without intrahepatic venous invasion

(2) diameter <= 5 cm, 1 to 3 tumor nodules, with intrahepatic venous invasion)

(3) diameter > 5 cm, 1 to 3 tumor nodules, and no intrahepatic venous invasion

Locally advanced:

(1) diameter <= 5 cm, >= 4 tumor nodules, and intrahepatic venous invasion

(2) diameter > 5 cm, >= 4 tumor nodules, without intrahepatic venous invasion

(3) diameter > 5 cm, >= 4 tumor nodules, with intrahepatic venous invasion

(4) diameter > 5 cm, 1 to 3 tumor nodules, with intrahepatic venous invasion

(5) diffuse tumor
