Description

A person who is homeless may live in a tent for long periods. A number of factors may contribute to the risk of arising in a tent.

Risk factors for fire:

(1) intoxication, including methamphetamine use

(2) use of open fires

(3) cold weather

(4) portable stove accident

(5) assault

(6) smoking

(7) clutter

 

Smoke inhalation can be a problem if the fire involves synthetic materials used for the tent, sleeping bag or tent contents.
