Description

Szanto et al provided criteria for grading an adenoid cystic carcinoma arising in a salivary gland. This can help to identify a patient who may require more aggressive management. The authors are from the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston.

Grade I tumors are well-differentiated and have the best prognosis.

 

Grade III tumors tend to be aggressive tumors, especially those with areas of tumor necrosis.
